I am a singer, song writer and musician. Also, I am a qualified complementary therapist and councillor who works currently as a singing group and therapeutic music group facilitator as well as an entertainer. My mission is to take music into the local community in the Forest of Dean and Beyond both as therapy and entertainment. I work mainly with the elderly and adults with learning difficulties but am in no way restricted to those groups. In therapeutic sessions, the emphasis is on singing with the addition of rhythm and chanting techniques where appropriate. For entertainment purposes, I sing and play both guitar and ukulele and I can perform in a variety of settings including Care Homes, Luncheon Clubs, Special Events and most social gatherings.
I seek additional work with established or new organisations that may wish to utilise my services in providing music and song for both therapeutic and entertainment value.
Dementia Music Therapy has a host of benefits for Dementia sufferers as singing, in particualar, helps sufferers to access lost memories and release emotional blockages. I love going into care homes and seeing the benefits that music sessions have for the residents.
Aphasia Aphasia can strike very quickly, usually as a result of a stroke. It can be confusing and scary to find that one's ability to communicate or one's muscle co-ordination is severely affected. Music can help in many ways and instill the belief that one must 'Never Give Up'.
Special Needs Music is a wonderful therapeutic tool for numerous special needs groups such as adults with learning difficulties. I love to see the joy it brings and the wonderful reaction that I get from providing music and song.
Community I have a passion for taking my music into the community both as entertainment and therapy. Music is a joy, a universal language that can be shared by all ages. The first thing my infant grandaughter or neice do when they visit is take my hand and lead me to my ukulele for a round of "If you're happy and you know it"!
